Duncan Money

Dr Duncan Money, PhD, is a Blairmore Associate. Duncan is a historian whose research focuses on the mining industry. He holds a PhD in History from the University of Oxford and works as a consultant and researcher. Duncan has led research projects for mining and mining exploration companies, development banks, risk analysis firms, museums and trade unions and has extensive international experience, having lived and worked in various countries in Africa, Europe and North America. Duncan has authored 40 peer-reviewed publications as well as numerous articles for public audiences and reports for clients. He is widely recognised as an expert on the mining industry, past and present, and his work and insights have been quoted in the press in the United States, Spain, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and South Africa, including interviews with Bloomberg, Le Monde and France 24.

While mining, and particularly copper, is the focus of his work, Duncan has wide-ranging expertise as a historian and has worked on trade, migration, colonial histories, African history, biographies and family history for clients. Duncan is also an accomplished public speaker and gives talks on round-the-world cruises as well as at industry conferences. Previously, Duncan worked as an academic and held positions at Oxford, Leiden, Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study and the University of the Free State in South Africa. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
