biography

Dr Ian Jones, PhD, is a Blairmore Associate.  Born in Birmingham, he received his PhD in History from the University of Liverpool, which was jointly funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and Barclays PLC, and was subsequently awarded the Coleman Prize for the best business history thesis in Britain in 2022. Alongside his work for Blairmore Associates, Ian is a lecturer in Strategy at the University of Sheffield Management School, UK, and an Adjunct Professor at the IESEG Management School in Paris, France.   He has worked closely with Barclays PLC to use their archives to inform organisational culture and memory, meeting the organisation's strategic objectives.  The recipient of a number of prizes from the Academy of Management and the British Academy of Management, his books include, The Development of Professional Management and A Search for Competitive Advantage  (both with John F. Wilson and Steve Toms, Routledge, 2021).
